Services and Support

As part of Pitt’s Global Engagement efforts, Pitt has contracted with a third-party service provider, Rittle Associates, to deliver on-the-ground service and support to the Pitt community's interactions in China. Occupying two offices in Beijing as well as a space in Shanghai, Rittle Associates can provide assistance with outreach, fostering new relationships, supporting research & partnerships as well as customized services to Pitt faculty, alumni, students and staff based on their role and level of engagement. Some specific examples the provider-based support services available include:

  • Varying levels of event organization assistance (receptions, meetings, conferences, outreach, etc.)
  • Travel advice
  • Alumni: in-country support for alumni outreach activities
  • Arranging services with various local vendors such as:
    • translation & interpretation
    • photographers/videographers
    • brochure design/printing - printed materials
    • preferred car service
  • Customized services based on your role and purpose for visiting
  • Access to alumni in China offering internships
  • Support for Pitt to You and new student integration activities
  • Support Office of Admissions and Financial Aid (OAFA) administrative activities in China

  • In addition to logistical support and outreach, there are physical meeting & work spaces which, upon availability, can be utilized by Pitt Faculty and Staff for meetings and partner engagement. Provider-Based Amenities

In addition to the services provided, Rittle Associates offers spaces on-site that are available for use by Pitt faculty, staff, and alumni. Use of these spaces must be coordinated as far as possible in advance to ensure their availability. At the Beijing main office, the front area of the office space can be used any time as an ad-hoc meeting room for up to 6-7 people. The building offers 7 co-shared meeting rooms, which must be formally booked in advance.

  • The co-shared meeting rooms can be used for 6 hours per month without charge. After the 6 hours per month are used up the rooms are charged at CNY600/hour (approx. $86  per hour) for the small 3 person room, CNY800/hour (approx. $115 per hour) for the medium 10 person room, and 1000/hour (approx. $144 per hour) for the large 15 person room.  When reserving, please confirm whether or not these spaces will require payment per the monthly 6-hour policy.

While most of our service provider's activities are based in Beijing near the Railway station, there is a satellite conference space in the Haidian/University district in northwestern Beijing. The Haidian Conference room (20㎡/215 sqft)can hold 7-8 people sitting around the conference table and 6 more when not seated at the table; the room offers projection equipment(projector and screen), a wall-mounted whiteboard and a movable whiteboard with pulleys. Practical Information & Resources

Our provider's main office is conveniently located within the old city walls of Beijing and just an 12 minute taxi ride from the Beijing Railway Station in the Dongshequ district; from which trains are available to the city center, directly to Beijing Capital International Airport, the rest of China and beyond. Travel to and from Beijing Capital International Airport is possible via both taxi and light rail. The average taxi cost is about 120 CNY (approximately $20) and takes approximately 45 minutes. To travel to and from the airport via light rail, the Beijing Capital Airport Express Train runs to/from Terminals 2 & 3 with one transfer. The transfer is at Dongzhimen station (please note you must purchase as separate trips), then from Dongzhimen, take the Subway Line 2 to Jianguomen station, from there the office is accessible via taxi or a 15-minute walk. Please note: travel times on map might not reflect actual travel times. A shuttle exists as well, however, taxi remains the fastest, most convenient option.

Onsite, the main office offers several options for workspace & meetings and for larger or more formal events, several nearby hotels (listed below) offer both accommodation and conference, reception & event spaces.

Recommended Hotels

W Beijing – Chang'an

This new and very modern hotel is ideal for higher-level visitors and VIP’s as both guests or for holding events. The W offers over 1500 square meters (16,145 sqft) of meeting space and state-of-the-art banquet and audio-video facilities with 7 different meeting rooms available for rent ranging in size from 40㎡ - 522㎡ (430 - 5,618 sqft). Prices and additional information are available upon request. There are two restaurants located within the hotel as well. The W Beijing is a 20 mins walk (7 mins drive) to the Beijing Railway Station and a 16 mins walk (4 mins drive) to the main office.

New Otani Chang Fu Gong

This traditional, more established hotel, is in the mid-level price range and is less formal and modern than the W Beijing, this hotel is appropriate for a more conservative event or situation. This hotel is often popular for faculty stays. The New Otani offers 3 large meeting/reception rooms that can be subdivided into 9 smaller sections with total meeting spaces ranging from 73㎡ - 645㎡ (785 - 6942 sqft). The New Otani also offers two Chinese restaurants and one Japanese restaurant on site. The hotel is about 20 mins walk (10 mins drive) to the Beijing Railway Station and 16 mins walk (6 mins drive) to the main office.


The Beijing Pudi Hotel (Formerly Beijing Marriott City Wall)

The Beijing Pudi is a similar level hotel to the New Otani and can be used for a similar level visit. The Beijing Pudi is an 5 mins walk to the Beijing Railway Station and a 12 mins drive (29 mins walk) to the main office.


Howard Johnson Paragon Hotel Beijing

This hotel is a budget priced option nearby and is ideal for trips with minimal expense and is a 16 mins drive (24 mins walking) to the main office and 3 mins walk to the Beijing Railway Station.
